APPLICATION OF COMMUNITY POLICING PRINCIPLES IN HIGH CRIME AREAS
April 15-16, 2019
A two-day seminar designed for officers with limited experience in engaging the community in areas of high crime reporting and prevalence. Participants will be provided with an understanding of some techniques and methods that will allow them to provide initiatives to targeted community groups. Topics include: (1) community/neighborhood policing; (2) overcoming potential barriers; (3) internal and external marketing; (4) proactive problem-solving approaches; (5) collaborative approaches; (6) innovative crime reduction tactics and programs; (7) facilitation of program initiatives with community leaders; (8) soliciting support from commercial and community groups; (9) garnering and mobilizing other community group support and resources; and (10) necessity of follow-up and vigilance. Program will be conducted April 15-16, 2019 at the Essex County College Public Safety Academy, 250 Grove Avenue in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. Class will be in session 8:30 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. each day.
